Rocky Point
Beaches - Beaches of Puerto Penasco Mexico
Rocky Point beaches and
Puerto Penasco beaches are plentiful. The areas of Rocky Point
vary greatly from SANDY BEACH with it's large beaches of
beautiful soft sand, to estuaries coming from the sea,
to oceanfront land of rock with no beach.
Rocky Point, Mexico has
beautiful beaches in only one section of town - Sandy
Beach. If you want a large, long sandy beach, this
is it. The other beaches tend to be small and
rocky. The waves vary from flat to small.
Only when there is a storm do the waves get big.
Therefore, the water is great to swim, play or just hang
in to stay cool. The ocean floor is sandy at Sandy
beach and rocky in the other beaches except the
estuaries.
All Rocky Point beaches are public and
thus you may find locals driving to your beach.
Only certain areas directly in front of developments on
private land have restricted access.
Nude Beaches and Nude Sunbathing
There are no nude beaches in Rocky Point.
Nude sunbathing is not
allowed in any part of Mexico. Thus keep your
clothes on unless you are in a very deserted and private
area.

The Tides
Tides in Rocky Point vary
greatly each day. An interesting and unusual
feature of the Puerto Peñasco area is the extreme tides
produced in the area. In Cholla Bay,
5 miles from the heart of Rocky Point, the difference
between low and high tides can be as much as 24 feet.
The receding tide unveils tide pools and rocks on the
sea floor which reveal sea life and shells.
Shell Collecting
Shelling collecting is a
popular activity. A great amount of shells can be
found on the beaches of Rocky Point.
