Entry and Passport Requirements for Rocky Point, Mexico

The border-crossing station in Lukeville-Sonoita, is open from 6 a.m. to midnight daily.

You need the proper documents to re-enter the United States from Rocky Point. A current U.S. passport is best, although you can use an original birth certificate or a naturalization certificate. Contrary to popular belief, voter-identification cards and driver's licenses are not acceptable.

In reality, no one checks how long you plan to be there when entering Mexico at Lukeville.  If you want a visa, you can get one at the border-crossing station in Lukeville-Sonoita, where Mexican officials stamp the visa and give you a copy. The border is open from 6 a.m. to midnight daily.

You also can get visas from travel agents in the United States, but call ahead to make sure the office has some.
