Driving Instructions to Rocky Point
From the East Valley (Phoenix area)
Take I-10 east toward Tucson. Take the Queen Creek exit,
turn right (Arizona 347). In about 33 miles, the road
dead-ends, take a right. In 5 miles you meet up with
Interstate 8. Go west on I-8 to Gila Bend (Exit 116) and
go south on Arizona 85. Pass through Ajo and Why to the
border at Lukeville. Continue south for about 2 miles
until you see the sign for Caborca. Go left, over a
bridge, and to the town of Sonoyta. Look for the sign to
"Pto. Penasco" -- Mexico Highway 8. Angle off to the
right and drive about 62 miles to Rocky Point.
From
Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa & Chandler
Take the 101 freeway heading South. Toward the end of
the 101, it will split into Price Rd or the Loop 202.
Take Price Rd, continue South to Queen Creek Rd, then
turn right. Stay on Queen Creek Rd., (which turns into
Maricopa Rd after a few miles), passing right over the
I-10, until you see the sign saying, Mobile #238. Turn
right on #238. Now, you are heading to Gila Bend, which
connects you to AZ 85. When #238 ends, turn left, which
takes you into Gila Bend. Now your on AZ 85. Stay on AZ
85 until you see a sign that says Ajo/Mexico, just
before the Mc Donald's. Turn right. Now you want to stay
on AZ 85 to Ajo (40 minutes form Gila Bend), they Why
(10 minutes passed Ajo) and to border at Lukeville.
Continue south for about 2 miles until you see the sign
for Caborca. Go left, over a bridge, and to the town of
Sonoyta. Look for the sign to "Pto. Penasco" -- Mexico
Highway 8. Angle off to the right and drive about 62
miles to Rocky Point.
From Central Phoenix
Take I-10 west to Arizona 85 (Exit 112). Go south on AZ
85 through Gila Bend, Ajo, and Why to the border at

Take the Tucson/Ajo Highway (State route 86) west to
Why. Turn south on State route 85 and go to the border
at Lukeville. Continue south for about 2 miles until you
see the sign for Caborca. Go left, over a bridge, and to
the town of Sonoyta. Look for the sign to "Pto. Penasco"
-- Mexico Highway 8. Angle off to the right and drive
about 62 miles to Rocky Point.
